A golf cart crash left a teenage girl dead and several people injured on Monday in Mooresville.
The crash happened on Swamp Rose Drive near Golden Star Lane around 5 p.m., according to the Mooresville Police Department. One of the juveniles involved in the crash was pronounced dead.
Police did not release the victim's name. However, ATA Cheer Lake Norman stated that Julie Rooney, a member of their team, was the victim.
"Julia Rooney was not only a teammate, but a friend, a light in our gym, and someone who made an impact on everyone she met," the team said in a social media post.
Investigators said several juveniles were injured, but did not specify the total number of people involved.
It's not clear what led to the crash. Police did not say if the golf cart was hit by another vehicle.
No further information has been released.
